We we also own a few rental properties and run some Airbnbs because apparently I can't help myself.

A few of us had a good chat at our book club earlier this month about the book 'Long-Distance Real Estate Investing' by David Greene. This is quite a dense book packed with info, so there was lots to talk about. I learned a lot from this book, and it gave me some great ideas about how to improve my business. I will definitely be going back to this over and over while growing my real estate portfolio.
In honour of Women's History Month this March, we are reading 'The Only Woman in the Room' compiled by Ashley L. Wilson. We realized that we hadn't read any books by women since starting the book club (which is terrible) so we're going to start by reading this one! There's an audiobook too if that's more your style.
This book looks very interesting - it's a compilation of pieces written by various women real estate investors. In an industry historically dominated by men, it's time we had more women 'in the room'. 😉

Hi! 👋🏽 It's been wayyy too long since I emailed you. I'm not going to pretend otherwise. Quick update: still have my investment properties (5 units, a mix of Airbnb and long-term rentals), still running Floorish Rugs and Yacksmith Properties, still working my finance/strategy job at an architecture firm, and now also helping people build actual businesses. Unfortunately the date I chose for the next book club (April 5th - 'The Only Woman in the Room') conflicts with another REI event in Ottawa, and rescheduling it is proving to be difficult because it seems lots is going on around that time. We will have to postpone this book club until further notice. I will email you when I have a new date. And if you have any suggestions for dates/times that work best for you please let me know!
